In TongXiang , there is a sprightly old man who is 91 years old this year. After retired, the old man developed his hobby of paper-cutting,and CCTV-4 was his“enlightenment teacher.”. Through years of continuous study, the old man figured out a set of his own paper-cut techniques. As the inheritor of intangible cultural heritage in paper-cutting,ShanYong Li has a pair of hands, which can cut out hundreds of different paper-cut patterns. Not long ago, in order to celebrate the double ninth festival, he specially used paper-cut works to the old people in the city as the festival of good wishes.

Li is a famous "Paper-Cutting expert" in the village. He told me that when he was a child, he loved painting and Paper Cutting. When he was working, he still thought about it . so he would be said to be "doing nothing".Due to family financial reasons, I did not delve into my studies. Until retirement, he learned Pape -Cutting skills by himself through television, and since then he has been out of control. "I started Paper- Cutting when I was 76 years old, and many people didn't understand it at that time," Li recalled. Li loved handicrafts ,and until he retired, he had no time to pick up his favorite things .

Li said that the most important thing in Paper-Cutting is meditation. Paper-Cutting works can be seen everywhere in his home. Li presented his latest creation of the "Hundred Lives Painting" to me, which is composed of the pattern of the Longevity Star and the words "Fu" and "Shou", which is very festive and auspicious. Li introduced that "The Painting of a Hundred Years of Life" was specially created by him for a week before the arrival of the Double Ninth Festival. I hope this picture can be used to wish the elderly whom could be healthy, and happy in their life, "said ShanYong Li .

Over the past 15 years, Li has created more than 700 Paper Cuttings works, including four masterpieces, flowers, birds, animals, and red revolutionary figures. His enthusiasm for Paper Cuttings also infected people around him. Li Shanyong is 91 years old, and it's really remarkable that he can still put so much effort into things which he likes, "exclaimed by WenYu Li of his neighbor.
